Emergency Brakes


Renold Australia offers two complete ranges of SIME-STROMAG INDUSTRIES designed electromagnetic and hydraulic emergency brake calipers, with retaining forces up to 25,000Nm.

These brakes typically act directly on the hoist drums, ladle cranes, port cranes and other safety critical applications such as wind turbines.

Emergency brakes are called for in the event of:

  • Mechanical failure in the drive-line
  • Over speed detection
  • Emergency operation initiated by the operator
